Carve Design was preparing to launch Geekey 2.0, the successor to its widely popular Geekey multitool. To move the product from development into manufacturing, the company needed a launch video that would build excitement and drive enough pre-orders to support a successful crowdfunding campaign.
The challenge: the original Geekey was still a strong performer in the market, so the video had to clearly communicate why Geekey 2.0 was worth the upgrade. It needed to showcase the new product’s features while also delivering a creative, memorable concept that would cut through the noise—all while staying within a practical production budget.
In partnership with Carve Design, we developed original creative that highlighted key product features within the context of a fun, engaging, and visually dynamic concept. We looked for ways to maximize the budget, spending where it counted (the Bigfoot costume) and saving where we could.
Some of the shots - especially the camera swings and swoops - required careful planning and practice in the days before the actual shoot. Afterward, during the edit, we used After Effects to dial in the right balance between realistic movement and complete zaniness.
The final video helped Carve Design land pre-order commitments that exceeded its initial crowdfunding goal. The video also delivered on its promise of being an evergreen marketing asset, suitable for use as the official Geeky 2.0 product video for years to come.
