Make Every Story
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we created this short video highlighting one aspect of domestic abuse.
The Story

This project examines the deadly intersection of domestic abuse and gun violence, highlighting how firearms can escalate abuse into fatal outcomes.

Results
We wanted to create a project that respectfully explored the intersection between gun violence and domestic abuse. Ordinarily, we would build a concept around the victims' voices, letting them tell their story in their own words.
In this case, however, the victims could not be present: they had been permanently silenced by the very issue we were exploring. We needed to find another approach.
The solution was twofold. First, we would leverage the availability of domestic violence-related data to tell the core story of how the combination of firearms and domestic abuse often had a fatal outcome.
But statistics and analysis alone wouldn't tell the full story. So we came up with a concept that visually highlighted the "missing" victims. This concept told the visual story that the victims themselves could not tell.
The video speaks for itself. We are grateful to the folks who participated and hope the work continues to raise awareness.
